Position: Sr. Operator
Enjoy running a machine, and working alone? As a Sr. Operator at WJS Contracting  It's you, the machine, and the client. Pay is commensurate with experience in the 30-35$ an hour range. 

We perform landscape construction services such as:
- Yard Expansion, Loam, Brush Removal, Excavation, Stacked Stone Boulder Walls, Stump Removal, Grading, Drainage, Leveling

Responsibilities

  • Act as Foreman on the jobsite building landscapes to the clients desires.

  • Must be able to work solo without supervision meeting clients expectations.

  • Must be able to communicate with client's effectively.

  • Must be able to do light duty mechanics out in the field (Change a hose, change a tire, grease the machine, tighten tracks, keep the machine clean)

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of equipment operator experience.

  • Fully qualified on excavator, loader, and skid steer.

  • Proficient with grading and drainage.

  • US DOT Card.

Position: Utility Operator (Full Time - 40hrs/wk)
Hour Requirements: Full Time- Year-Round (40 hours/week). The hours of this position are normally 730-4PM. Sometimes a job or firewood delivery will run late. Most of the time this position works independently and as such can flex the hours +/- an hour. In general, WJS Contracting is good about working around employee’s preferences, but we expect that to be a two way street. Weekends are not required however it is important to note we have a limited staff and can use extra help seasonally (mostly in the months of April, May and September).

Responsibilities
As a Utility operator you don’t have an assigned role (such as contract line equipment operator), your role changes with the seasonality and mechanical needs of the fleet. This role involves an unusual amount of variety and requires the “jack of all trades” type of candidate for effectiveness.

That typically looks like:

  • 1+ day a week of mechanical maintenance activities (unless the production items are overwhelming)

  • Operate Equipment at Job Sites Seasonally (4-5 days a week in Spring, 2-3 Days a Week Summer/Fall, 1-2 Days a week through winter.) Operator Experience at job sites requires the ability to proficiently meet the client’s needs and expectations, ON TIME, and within the parameters of the quote, working independently without oversight. We need to trust that the candidate will do a good job without taking so long that the venture is no longer profitable.

  • Operate Equipment Proficiently (Wood Processor) In the Wood Yard Seasonally (0 days a week in Spring, 1+ Days a week Summer/Fall, 3+ days a week Winter.)

  • When not operating a machine, perform mechanical work lists independently without supervision (meaning Management hands you a list and you perform the tasks to keep the fleet up to snuff).

  • Plowing in the winter whenever it snows.

Qualifications

  • Prior Mechanical Experience: Vehicles, Trailers, Hydraulic Equipment; Welding: Stick and MIG

  • Basic Machine Operating Experience: Proficient on Loader/Skid Steer, Some Experience on Excavator (able to learn quickly)

  • Understanding of drainage and grading.

  • Trucking: Licensed and able to drive equipment to and from job sites etc., able to Plow driveways.

  • Interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with client without supervision.
